Touched by Cancer Event Raises £23k

Sunshine, sport, and an unbelievable show of community spirit. Our very first Touched by Cancer women’s touch rugby tournament at Aberavon RFC was a tryumph!
Sixteen incredible all-women teams came together for a day packed with action on the pitch, laughter off it, and heartfelt moments honouring those we’ve lost and those still fighting cancer. From a moving minute’s silence and applause to live music, delicious food, local stalls, a raffle, and an auction with amazing prizes – the energy never stopped.
A huge shout-out to our winners; the Resolven Hillbetties in first place, Ferry Renettes in second place and Bryncoch Broncettes in third place. Amazing efforts all around!
And to our Fundraising Champions, the Baglan Bombshells, who smashed it with £4,040 raised!
With the help of our amazing players, supporters, sponsors (including our main sponsor Tomato Energy), and a brilliant turnout from the community, we raised an incredible £23,000+ for our Going the Extra Mile for Cancer appeal – helping the South West Wales Cancer Centre continue to provide outstanding care for patients and families.
Event organiser Cathy Stevens said:
“The whole day was emotional but also joyous. We’re so grateful to everyone who took part, donated, and supported this event. It was a powerful reminder of what our community can achieve when we come together.”
If you missed it – don’t worry. We’ll be back… and next year promises to be even bigger!
