Swansea Bay Health Charity
We are the official charity of Swansea Bay University Health Board, supporting patients, families and NHS staff across Swansea and Neath Port Talbot.
We raise funds for projects and services that go beyond what NHS funding alone can provide — helping to enhance care, improve hospital environments and support wellbeing across our communities.
In 2024–25, over £1.2 million was raised by our fundraisers and supporters!
This funding allows us to invest in a wide variety of projects that make a big difference – from cutting‑edge equipment and pioneering research to patient wellbeing initiatives and improved hospital spaces.
You make it all possible by hosting events, running, cycling and baking cakes to raise funds!

Our health board in focus
Swansea Bay University Health Board provides NHS care and services for around 400,000 people across Swansea and Neath Port Talbot.
We support more than 14,000 staff working across hospitals, community services and specialist centres, alongside over 250 dedicated volunteers.
Here’s how we helped our Health Board last year:

Swansea Bay UHB is responsible for NHS services across Swansea and Neath Port Talbot along with a range of specialist tertiary services which are offered to patients even further afield. We are also one of the largest employers in south west Wales, with around 14,700 staff.
The specialised care provided on a regional basis includes:
- ● Cancer, including our South West Wales Cancer Centre, which also plays a leading role in research and innovation
- ● Cardiac, including complex surgery
- ● Renal, including dialysis
- ● Burns and plastics, including surgery and intensive care
- ● Specialist neonatal care, including the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU)
Some of the challenges we face
There are persistent inequalities across Swansea Bay when it comes to experiences of those things which have an impact on health, such as education, housing and income.
A total of 23.2% of children across Swansea Bay live in poverty and those living in the most deprived areas unfortunately have shorter life expectances, and even fewer healthy years, than those living in the least deprived areas.
These challenges highlight the importance of charitable funding in helping to bridge gaps, improve environments and provide additional support where it is needed most.
By working with partners and communities, we are helping to tackle inequalities and improve health and wellbeing across our region.
