Jiffy’s Cancer 50 Challenge 2025 Highlights

On Sunday, 17 August 2025, under beautiful sunshine, 330 cyclists took on the challenge and rode 50 miles from Cardiff City Stadium to Bracelet Bay in Swansea, raising funds for two of Wales’s leading cancer centres: Velindre Cancer Centre and the South West Wales Cancer Centre at Singleton Hospital.
Led by our very own Welsh rugby legend, Jonathan “Jiffy” Davies, the ride brought together people from all walks of life — united by a common cause. Jiffy, whose family has been personally touched by the excellent care these centres provide, remarked:
“Both of these charities mean a lot to me. The support they offer to patients and families across Wales, including my late wife and many close friends, is truly exceptional. They fund care, services, and projects that provide comfort and hope when people need it most. We’re incredibly lucky to have them, and I’ll keep encouraging as many people as possible to get behind these amazing causes.”
This event also created many emotional moments:
● A moving tribute as a team of 10 cyclists rode in memory of Coweeta Pemberton, with his loved ones surrounding them on the route
● A triumphant, police-escorted finish line, united all 330 riders as one as they crossed into bracelet bay
● A fun and lively afterparty at The Lighthouse in Swansea, complete with live music, local food and drink, and £1 donated for every drink sold, making the celebration even sweeter!
We’d like to say a special thank you to our top fundraisers who went above and beyond their fundraising target:
Richard Morgan raised an incredible £4078.75
Tony Lovell raised £1843
Lyndon Edwards raised £1465
Top fundraising team: Team Rhondda Tri, who raised £1038!
Our heartfelt thanks also extend to our sponsors Andrew Scott Ltd and UPRISE BIKES, to our volunteers, marshals, event organisers, medics, our friends at Velindre Cancer Charity, and every single person whose enthusiasm and commitment made the day an unforgettable one.
The exact total is still being finalised, and donations are still rolling in, however we’re currently at £48,000, which will go towards services at two cancer centres; South West Wales Cancer Centre in Singleton Hospital, and Velindre Cancer Centre.
Will you help us get to £50K?
Every donation counts. We’re just shy of our £50,000 milestone target — a monumental achievement if we can cross that threshold together! Let’s build momentum and reach £50K for cutting edge cancer care on our doorstep.
