That’s a Wrap for 30 Miles in May!

As 30 Miles in May draws to a close, we want to say a huge thank you to every single person who took part, donated, and supported this fantastic challenge. It has been absolutely inspiring to see so many passionate fundraisers championing the Cwtsh Natur Appeal!
At a glace, here’s how 30 Miles in May went:

An impressive 106 Swansea Bay University Health Board staff members signed up to 30 Miles in May, which reflects the dedication, passion and community spirit of NHS staff across Swansea Bay. Their commitment to their workplace and the patients they support shines through in initiatives like this
Together, our fantastic fundraisers have raised amazing awareness for the Cwtsh Natur Appeal across our local community, supporting a meaningful cause that will transform the outdoor space at the Neath Port Talbot Children’s Centre into a nurturing nature environment for children’s health and wellbeing. Thanks to your efforts, the Cwtsh Natur Appeal now stands at £28,400!
Local pupils have made a significant contribution to this total through their participation in 30 Miles in May. The children at Blaenhonddan Primary School have collectively raised an incredible £3,260.30.
Claire Morgan, Expressive Arts Lead at the school shares:
“Every child has taken an active part in adding the miles! From our youngest in Nursery to our oldest in Year 6. Even children and families who were on their holidays in other countries, were eager to be part of our fundraising efforts and kept us informed of the miles they had completed! The community of Blaenhonddan Primary School have always been supportive and generous, but this time they have surpassed all expectations. We are so very proud of our families, staff and children who have raised this incredible amount.”
A special mention also goes out to our special fundraisers who went the extra mile in the challenge:

Many participants shared powerful personal motivations for taking part. Adam Thorn got involved in 30 Miles in May as a proud father to Bryn, who received physiotherapy in the Centre. Adam shared:
“The Centre is already a wonderful space for children with a wide-ranging set of needs, but the addition of a nature space for child health and well-being would be absolutely fantastic.”
Another participant from the Staff Health & Wellbeing Service reflected:
“By doing this it’s giving me some ‘me time’ during the day, a break from work (when the weather is good) and also using it as a mindful walk to tie in with my wellbeing goals. My hope is that this has changed into a healthy habit that I intend on continuing.”
Our fundraisers have shown the power of joint effort, local communities and the force of our Health Board. Everybody who walked, ran, cycled, donated or cheered others on has played a part in something truly special. We are now a big step closer to creating a calming, therapeutic outdoor space for children and families who need it most!
