Funds in Focus
Swansea Bay Health Charity supports over 250 NHS wards and departments across Swansea Bay University Health Board. Our Funds in Focus shines a light on incredible projects you may not know about – each working hard to raise money for vital services and resources not covered by core NHS funding. Together, we can make a real difference to the lives of patients and staff across Swansea Bay.
Did you know?
What is Funds in Focus?
We’re shining a light on these funds because their fundraising efforts have a huge impact on patient care and staff wellbeing in the Swansea Bay University Health Board.
Each fund addresses specific needs. From essential equipment to emotional support – ensuring people across Swansea Bay receive the best possible care.

Welsh Dragon
Burns Club
Based at Morriston Hospital’s Paediatric Burns and Plastic Surgery Unit, the Welsh Dragon Burns Club is the only club of its kind in Wales and has been supporting children for over 22 years. The club totally relies on donations, grants and sponsorship to create safe and inclusive spaces for young people recovering from burn injuries or body image concerns, helping them to rebuild their confidence and self-esteem beyond the hospital environment.
Hafan Y Mor
Children’s Centre
Hafan Y Mor Children’s Centre at Singleton Hospital is a one-stop hub for children with additional needs, bringing together paediatrics, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech and language therapy under one roof. It also hosts specialist clinics, from orthopaedics and orthotics to upper limb splinting, plus a toy library for families. Thanks to charitable support, the centre’s garden has recently been transformed into a brighter, more welcoming space.
Head and Neck Oncology
Charity (HANOC)
Head and Neck Oncology Charity (HANOC) is a dedicated charity supporting the individual needs of head and neck cancer patients at the South West Wales Cancer Centre. HANOC aims to improve patient experience by providing essential equipment and products to manage the side effects of diagnosis and treatment, including dry mouth products, nebulisers, communication aids, and information support packs. Funds raised also help develop future support groups.
Gynaecology and Women’s Health
The Gynaecology and Women’s Health service provides specialist assessment and care for patients with complex bladder, bowel, and prolapse symptoms, alongside advanced urogynaecological conditions. With a focus on early access and personalised support, the team is often able to help patients manage their conditions through conservative methods, reducing the need for surgery. Charitable funds play a vital role in supporting this vision, helping to provide equipment, research, patient education, and wellbeing initiatives to ensure every patient receives the best possible care.
Singleton Neonatal
Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Singleton Hospital provides specialist care for premature and critically ill newborns from as early as 22 weeks’ gestation, serving families across Swansea, West Wales and parts of Cwm Taf. Donations help fund family support including food, transport and accommodation, as well as specialist equipment, training, and resources that enhance care and wellbeing for both babies and their families. Every contribution makes a lasting difference at the very start of life.
Morriston
Paediatrics
At Morriston Hospital, our paediatric wards care for children and young people up to the age of 16, providing everything from emergency assessments and surgery to cancer care, burns and high dependency support. With around 45 admissions every day, staff are always busy caring for some of the most vulnerable patients. From toys and sensory equipment to homely touches, donations transform the hospital experience and make a difficult stay
feel a little brighter.
