Neath Port Talbot Mayor Announces £12,000 Total

The Former Mayor of Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council, Cllr Matt Crowley (2024 – 2025) has announced a fundraising total of £12,000 to support two funds under the Swansea Bay Health Charity umbrella, after a dedicated year of community events and initiatives.
The funds will be split equally between the Podiatry Service at Morriston Hospital and the Wound Clinic at the Resource Centre Baglan. The two causes provide a vital boost to healthcare services and staff wellbeing projects within the local Trust.
Fundraising Highlights
Mayoral Charity Ball: The flagship event of the year, held at Blanco’s Hotel Port Talbot, which brought together local businesses and residents for an evening of auctions and entertainment.
Community Challenges: A series of public events including a ‘Mayor’s Parc Margam 5 &10k run’, seasonal fairs, and local sporting challenges that engaged hundreds of residents.
Business Partnerships: Generous contributions from local companies who selected the Mayor’s Appeal as their ‘Charity of the Year’. A special mention to Mr & Mrs Hopkins of Blanco’s Hotel for facilitating the charity ball.
Former Mayor, Cllr Crowley said:
“It has been an absolute privilege to witness the overwhelming generosity of our community. Raising £12,000 for our NHS heroes is a testament to the high regard in which these charities are held.
“Having seen first hand the incredible work our medical teams do; I am delighted these funds will help provide the extra ‘wraparound’ care that makes such a difference to patients and their families“.

Swansea Bay University Health Board Charity Manager, Lewis Bradley, added:
“We are incredibly grateful for Cllr Crowley’s support. This donation will allow us to fund projects that sit outside of core NHS funding.”
