Charity Beachfront Walk for Children’s Health Services

Following the success of previous years, Cwtsh by the Coast returns on Sunday 31st May 2026, bringing the community together for a scenic sponsored walk in support of children’s mental health and wellbeing.
Starting at 11am outside Principality Building Society’s Port Talbot branch, participants will enjoy a gentle 3.6-mile walk along Aberavon seafront, finishing at the Children’s Centre at Neath Port Talbot Hospital. Entry is £5 for adults (children under 16 go free), with all participants receiving a complimentary goodie bag.
The event is proudly sponsored by Principality Building Society, who have donated £5,000 to support the Cwtsh Natur appeal.
Cwtsh Natur is a Swansea Bay Health Charity fundraising campaign aiming to raise £200,000 to transform the outdoor space at the Neath Port Talbot Children’s Centre into a safe, sensory-rich garden. The new space will provide a calming, nature-based environment to support thousands of children each year with physical, developmental and mental health needs.
Funds raised from the walk will directly support this transformation, helping to create an inclusive, therapeutic space where children can unwind, learn and play.
Vicky Wales, Chief Savings & Lending Officer, at Principality Building Society, said:
“Our partnership with Swansea Bay University Health Board has developed into a meaningful collaboration that supports NHS staff and the families they care for. We’ve delivered financial wellbeing workshops to NHS colleagues across hospital sites, providing practical guidance to busy professionals.
“We’re delighted to continue that support through the Cwtsh by the Coast walk, where many people, including Principality colleagues, will be walking to fund Cwtsh Natur – an invaluable outdoor sanctuary based at Neath Port Talbot Children’s Centre, where children and families can enjoy a calm, sensory space.”
Cathy Stevens, Community Support Charity Officer, at Swansea Bay Health Charity, said:
“Cwtsh Natur is about creating a space where children can feel safe, calm and supported during what can often be difficult times. Every step taken during Cwtsh by the Coast brings us closer to making that vision a reality. We would love as many people as possible to join us – whether you walk, donate or fundraise.”
The event also ties in with Swansea Bay Health Charity’s 30 Miles in May virtual challenge, which supports the Cwtsh Natur Appeal. Taking place on the final day of the month, Cwtsh by the Coast offers participants a chance to boost their miles while enjoying a sociable, community atmosphere.
Join Swansea Bay Health Charity and Principality Building Society on 31st May 2026 and help create a space where nature can nurture, comfort and inspire.
