Thousands Raised for Singleton Ward 1 in Memory of Megan Didcock
Family and friends of Megan Didcock are coming together to raise thousands for Singleton Hospital’s Enhanced Care Unit (Ward 1) in her memory, having received outstanding care during her final weeks. Among fundraising activities are a Christmas family fun day event hosted by Meg’s sister, and a flash tattoo day organised by her friend, Katy.
Earlier this year, Megan Didcock was diagnosed with stomach cancer. After a short but incredibly brave fight, she sadly passed away at just 29 years old. Meg’s sister, Charlotte, shares Megan’s story to help others:
“During her time in the Enhanced Care Unit at Singleton Hospital, the nurses and staff showed the most amazing care and compassion, not just for Meg, but for her family and friends too. They became like friends to her, always going above and beyond to make her as comfortable as possible and supporting everyone around her with such kindness”.
Now, Meg’s friends and family are coming together to raise money for the ward that cared for her so beautifully, determined to give something back in her memory.
So far, they’ve already raised over £3,200 – and they’re only just getting started. With several special fundraising events lined up, they’re hoping to reach £6000, ensuring Meg’s legacy continues to make a difference for others.
One of Meg’s closest friends, Katy, is a tattoo artist who wanted to celebrate her friend’s life in a creative and meaningful way:
“We’re organising the flash tattoo day in memory of Meg as a way to honour her and support the YA21 Enhanced Care Unit,” said Katy. “Meg meant a lot to so many of us, and doing something creative and positive felt like a meaningful way to celebrate her and give back at the same time. We’ll be offering a range of small flash designs on the day – all simple, fun pieces that people can choose from on a walk-in basis.”
Meg’s friends and family are each finding their own ways to fundraise and remember her.
Her friend Carly recently ran in the Richard Burton 10K in her honour, while Charlotte, Meg’s sister, has organised a special Christmas Party – a sold-out event celebrating “Meg’s favourite time of year”. The afternoon will be filled with festive fun, children’s entertainment, games and a raffle packed with generous prizes – all coming together for a day of joy, remembrance and fundraising in Meg’s name.
The funds raised will go directly towards supporting patients, relatives and staff on Ward 1 at Singleton Hospital.
Megan’s husband Luke shared that he would like the funds raised in her memory to go towards items that directly improve patients’ quality of life while they’re in hospital. He explained that he’d love to see donations used for practical items such as tablets, stands, and protective cases, helping patients stay connected and entertained during their stay.
The family and fundraisers will continue to work with the charity to explore other meaningful ways these funds can make a difference for those cared for on Ward 1.

Megan’s story has touched so many people, not just those who knew her, but all who hear about the love and gratitude inspiring these fundraising efforts.
Through their creativity, kindness and determination, her friends and family are ensuring that Meg’s legacy lives on, helping others receive the same compassion and care that meant so much to them.
